Fertility Drugs Mexico
Many infertility treatments begin with women taking fertility drugs to induce ovulation, stimulate their ovaries to produce more eggs and to synchronize their menstrual cycles. Some fertility medication can be taken in tablet form and others are administered as injections, either at home or by a doctor. Infertility medication is used to control female progesterone levels and the levels of the hormones LH and FSH.
Clomid or Serophene-
Clomid (clomiphene citrate) is the first choice for treating infertility in Mexico because it's has been highly effective for more than 25 years. Clomid is introduced to women who are not ovulating routinely. Clomid and Serophene are antiestrogen drugs that cause the hypothalamus and pituitary gland to release hormones that will stimulate the ovaries to produce eggs.
If Clomid isn't successful, your doctor may recommend the below injectable hormones treatments to stimulate ovulation:
- Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG)- including Pregnyl, Novarel, Ovidrel, and Profasi. This drug is usually used along with other fertility drugs to trigger the ovaries to release the mature egg or eggs.
- Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH)- Follistim, Fertinex, Bravelle, and Gonal-F.
- Gonadotropin Releasing Hormone Agonist (GnRH agonist)- Lupron, Zoladex, and Synarel
- Gonadotropin Releasing Hormone Antagonist (GnRH antagonist)- Antagon and Cetrotide
Risks of Fertility Drugs
Medication prescribed to assist with fertility treatment is considered safe and there are few side effects or risks to taking fertility drugs. The use of fertility drugs and IVF treatment increases the rate of multiple pregnancies by 5%. In rare cases, women prescribed ovary stimulating medication suffer from ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS), a condition causing the ovaries to swell and in severe cases, leak fluid into the abdomen and lungs.
