How many repeat cycles of IVF can I attempt?
IVF cycles often do not result in successful pregnancy after the first treatment cycle. Fertility doctors may prescribe an alternative combination of fertility drugs, or perform another treatment method alongside IVF.
There is no legal limit to the number of repeat IVF treatment cycles you can receive from fertility clinics. The amount of treatment cycles you may attempt must be decided between you and your fertility specialist who will advise whether a repeat treatment could prove successful. Fertility clinics will advise on alternative fertility options which may improve your chances of conceiving.
Most infertility treatment clinics offer couples who have had two failed IVF cycles the third cycle of IVF treatment free of charge. Not all clinics provide the third cycle of IVF free to patients however it is becoming a common practise. (For more information please contact us)
Couples who have tried three unsuccessful IVF cycles using their own eggs and sperm may have a successful IVF attempt by using sperm donation or egg donation.
